Just barely alive, and scrambling for breath

Like a prison. Entrapment. This is how it feels, when they crown her, dress her in pretty, endlessly delicate things that she is expected not to break, that she is expected to look genteel and fragile in, and she is so confused, because isn’t a Queen meant to be awesome and terrible, strong and sharp and as sure as a blade? This is a use for metal she is unfamiliar with, this web of shiny, useless things wrapped in airy wisps of light fabric. And yet as sure as it is beautiful and ethereal, fey, even, it is a prison. She is familiar with that use for metal. She has seen bars and shackles before. She has just never known them to gleam quite so nicely.
